Purpose

Responsible for engineering support and assistance in the management, coordination and organisation of project assignments from concept to completion.

The IBC Project Engineer (IBCPE) is responsible for supporting the internal HBS IBC Project Management and Design teams as well as providing technical and practical planning support for the successful delivery of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ IBC throughout key phases of the project lifecycle. The IBC Project Engineer will assist with the development and review of detailed project plans by vendors, provide technical analysis and refine design proposals, and contribute to site supervision.

The Project Engineer will oversee the implementation of project scheduling, risk analysis, design compliance, quality control, and performance monitoring to ensure the achievement of key project milestones. This role also involves managing technical aspects and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities

  • Liaise with HBS internal contributing teams and external vendors to develop and implement solutions that enhance project efficiency and ensure project goals are met
  • Provide technical insight in the analysis of vendor proposals, designs, estimates, and all aspects pertaining to received submissions on Request for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Streamline communication across external vendors and HBS internal teams to ensure project consistency, review technical details, and identify efficiencies to facilitate project-related approvals, installations, commissioning and qualifications
  • Guide vendors in identifying opportunities to streamline construction processes through technical and workflow improvements
  • Drive process innovation by pairing software solutions with internal processes to facilitate project tracking, scheduling, cost control and procurement
  • Assist in managing the project lifecycle, co-chair regularly scheduled coordination meetings, review design and construction documents and provide recommendations accordingly
  • Maintain detailed and accurate project documentation, including but not limited to BIM models, clash detection reports, and project deliverables
  • Support the IBC Project Manager in monitoring site progress, conducting risk assessments, and developing mitigation strategies
  • Assist in preparing cost and quantity reports derived from project data to support informed decision-making and ensure the project remains on schedule and within budget

Position Relevant Skills (Education/Work Experience/IT)

  • Bachelor’s degree – Construction Management, Structural/Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction project engineering or a relatable background with experience in software (BIM) integration and process optimisation preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects and complex building systems preferred
  • Understanding and background in HVAC and Chilled Water systems is a plus
  • Strong ability to anticipate, recognise, and respond to project challenges and adverse scenarios
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with culturally diverse teams
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Working proficiency in MS Office, and Excel
  • Field experience
